Gums hold the very foundations of our teeth’ structure, and it is necessary to understand that without a solid foundation, no structure can survive for long. But what if you start experiencing problems in your gums? What should be the solution for these problems? Kindly make it a habit to visit your dentist regularly, Gum Care is also known as Periodontal care.

WHAT IS PERIODONTAL CARE?

All the necessary treatments and precautions taken for maintaining proper health of gums is known as Periodontal care. The best way to maintain excellent oral care is actually hygiene. By maintaining proper hygiene, you can have healthy gums and teeth.

SOME COMMON PERIODONTAL DISEASES

There are many diseases that are associated with gums. According to the classification done in the year 1999 they are broadly classified into seven categories. These categories are listed below:

WHY IS PERIODONTAL CARE NECESSARY?

Periodontal care is essential for the maintenance of healthy gum. Early stages of gum disease cause no symptoms but can cause severe infection and teeth loss at later stages, or if left untreated. Periodontal diseases are generally caused by a bacterial infection in the gum and include Gingivitis and Periodontitis.

Swollen, red and bleeding gums are the characteristic features of Gingivitis. It can be easily treated in a dental clinic and by adopting preventive measures at home. Periodontitis is characterized by plaque formation and is the advanced stage of Gingivitis. These gum diseases can be prevented if detected early.

PROTECTIONS NECESSARY FOR HEALTHY GUMS

The best way to keep a check on periodontal diseases is by daily brushing your teeth two times a day. Flossing and mouth rinsing are also good practices to keep your mouth free from bacteria. They cleanse the mouth and keep it free from bacteria and other microbial growth. It is also necessary that you see what you are eating, when you are eating more acidic or sugar-laced food, you need to brush your teeth more regularly.
